Mattresses and beds are not exactly cheap, which is why it is essential to keep them properly maintained so you can use them for a long time. Beds and mattresses can deflate or become work out, especially if you do not take the proper measures to maintain them.

Here are some tips on how to keep your fabric beds maintained and clean at all times.

Flip Your Mattress

Laying on your mattress constantly will wear it out soon. Make sure to extend its lifespan by flipping it over once every six months. This will distribute the wear and will make your mattress last longer than you expect it to.

Make sure to ask a family member or a friend to do this with you, as it is almost impossible to do it alone. Most mattresses and beds are heavy, and trying to do it by yourself may even cause concussions or bruises.

Keep it Clean

As mentioned, cleaning your mattress can help increase its lifespan. Make sure to vacuum and strip your mattress at least twice a year, so you can get rid of the dust and even bed bugs that are present in it.

Avoid spraying it with a cleaning solution, as doing so can make your mattress mouldy. Always keep your mattress and bed as dry as possible to prevent mould and mildew from building up in the future.

Buy a New One

If your mattress is all worn out and dirty, make sure to get a new one. Using the same dirty mattress is not hygienic, which is why you should replace it after every few years. Most mattresses will only last you about 10 years. After that, it gets pretty worn out.

If you want, you can also have professionals come in and clean your mattress every once in a while. Let them know about the stains so they can clean it up right away.

Remove Stains Right Away

The longer you leave stains on your mattress, the harder it will be to remove and clean them. If you accidentally spilt something on your mattress or get urine or blood in there, make sure to get rid of it right away. These liquids can leak through your mattress, and removing it completely will almost be impossible.

Grab a wet cloth and blot the area to clean it. Do not wipe, as you will only be spreading the liquid around. If the stain will not go away, then use a spray bottle and a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to remove the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes before blotting the spot off. If the stain is still there, then use a little bit of baking soda. Let it sit for a couple of hours, then brush off the baking soda.

Follow these tips if you want to keep your beds and mattresses in mint condition. Use clean sheets, blankets, and pillowcases at all times so you would always practice proper hygiene in your room and the whole house.
